Chambers Ireland welcomes the proposal for a national Industrial Strategy for Offshore Wind

Speaking today (9 May 2023) after the announcement of plans to develop a National Industrial Strategy for Offshore Wind, Ian Talbot, Chief Executive of Chambers Ireland, commented:

“We welcome the Government’s prioritisation of the economic opportunities that can be derived from Ireland’s offshore wind potential. Given our extensive Exclusive Economic Area, our sea territory offers us access to enormous volumes of renewable energy potential. An Industrial Strategy is a welcome step to maximising this opportunity.

We need to see an ambitious strategy that incentivises investment and promotes opportunities that can deliver for the Irish economy, investors, and our national climate action targets. We would also like to see appropriate resources allocated to publish the strategy before the end of this year.”
