Chambers Ireland respond to the Supreme Court CETA judgement.
Chambers Ireland, the voice of business throughout Ireland, noted today’s judgement (11th November 2022) in the Supreme Court in relation to the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) between the EU and Canada.
Speaking this afternoon Ian Talbot, Chief Executive and Deputy President of Eurochambres – the Association of European Chambers of Commerce, said:
“Ireland’s economic growth and prosperity is built on international trade. The CETA agreement is a modern, progressive agreement that applies binding obligations on workers’ rights, environmental protection and climate action.
“Convincing companies, particularly SMEs, to trade internationally requires an appropriate structure to give unbiased legal protection for transaction activity.
“We urge the Government to seek resolution of the outstanding issues to ensure that Irish companies can avail of the opportunities for growth that CETA offers.”
