No Change to Pay and File Date Welcome News for the Self-Employed and Small Businesses

The Minister for Finance yesterday announced that he does not expect the Pay and File Date for the self-employed to be changed in the lifetime of this parliament. This is welcome news for the self-employed and small businesses.

Original proposals from the Department of Finance were to bring the Pay and File deadline forward to the end of June. This would have necessitated small businesses having to estimate and pay their full year tax liability mid-way through the year. This would have posed serious challenges for many businesses in terms of managing cashflow.

Chambers Ireland and the Chamber Network lobbied extensively against this proposed change, and we are happy to see the Minister confirm that the Pay and File deadline will not be brought forward.

Chamber members may be interested in learning of the work done on their behalf by Chambers Ireland and the Chamber Network.
