Steady Decline in Unemployment Positive News
Chambers Ireland has today (26/11/13) welcomed the news that the standardised rate of unemployment has fallen to 12.8% in the last quarter according to the Quarterly National Household Survey.
Speaking this morning, Chambers Ireland Deputy Chief Executive, Seán Murphy, said “A decrease in unemployment for the fifth successive quarter is something to be welcomed. While the level of unemployment is still far too high, the fact that it continues to move in the right direction is good news for the economy. There were 22,500 jobs created between July and September and coming into the Christmas period, with the Budget process for 2014 completed, this should have a positive impact on consumer sentiment and in turn business.”
