Chambers Ireland Welcomes eDay
Chambers Ireland has today (26/09/2013) welcomed the launch of eDay, the day from which Government Departments, Local Authorities and State Agencies will no longer use cheques in their dealings with businesses.
Speaking this afternoon, Seán Murphy, Chambers Ireland Deputy Chief Executive, said “This is a positive move, which Chambers Ireland has called for in recent pre-budget submissions. It will incentivise many SMEs to become less reliant on cheques as a method to make and receive payments.”
“Government must now further encourage this transition by reducing the charges on electronic payment cards,” he concluded.
