Passenger Cap Removal at Dublin Airport Signals Progress, Say Chambers Ireland

Wednesday, 11 February

Chambers Ireland have welcomed the decision by Government to approve draft legislation removing the 32‑million‑passenger cap at Dublin Airport.

Speaking earlier, Chief Executive Ian Talbot said:

“The long‑standing passenger cap has held back our connectivity over the past number of years. The decision to remove it is an important step that will signal to international partners and investors that Ireland is open for business.

Removing the cap will bring substantial benefits for businesses in every region who all depend on efficient and reliable transport. This will create meaningful gains for trade,  investment and employment across the country. It will also bring benefits for tourism by supporting businesses that depend on visitor spending.”

He continued:

“Looking ahead, delivering the MetroLink and other sustainable forms of public transport should be expedited to enable reliable, high‑capacity public transport and to support housing delivery. Advancing this infrastructure is essential for providing a modern transport system that aligns with our climate commitments and meets the needs of our growing economy.”
