Chambers Ireland and ICC Ireland congratulate Cork Chamber on remarkable achievement at the World Chambers competition

Cork Chamber has today won the ‘Best Collaboration of Chambers, Business and Government’ category at the World Chambers Competition, held during the 14th World Chambers Congress in Melbourne, this is the first ever Irish winner at these awards.

Hosted by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and the World Chambers Federation, the competition recognises cutting-edge and impactful initiatives by chambers worldwide.

Ian Talbot, Chief Executive of Chambers Ireland said, “It is an incredibly proud moment for the entire affiliated Chamber network that Cork Chamber has been recognised on the global stage. Chosen by a judging panel of global business leaders and one of only four awards, this recognition is just reward for the hard work and excellence that Cork Chamber have consistently displayed over a long period of time and an example of how a Chamber of Commerce can play a dynamic, progressive and positive role on the economic, environmental and social atmosphere of their home city. Cork Chamber are also the current holder of the Irish Chamber of the year award.”

The winning project was the Local Green Deal model which was harnessed by Cork Chamber and Cork City Council to unite business, government and civic partners through formally signed agreements that include measurable sustainability targets, clear timelines and shared accountability. These partnerships have already mobilised tens of millions of euros in green investments across sectors, from banks and universities to SMEs, proving that sustainability speaks every industry’s language.
