Dungarvan and West Waterford Chamber take home Chamber of the Year Award

Chambers Ireland held the Annual Chamber Awards at the Killashee Hotel, sponsored by Zurich Insurance. These awards are a wonderful celebration and recognition of all the efforts of Chambers throughout the country. Dungarvan and West Waterford Chamber took home Chamber of the Year Award. Here is a list of all the winners

1. Partnership for Business

Dungarvan and West Waterford Chamber were awarded the Partnership with Business award for their project, ‘Jobs for Ukrainians’. This project aimed to bridge the gap between skill shortages and local employment opportunities thereby matching Ukrainian skills to local employment. For this, the Dungarvan and West Waterford Chamber collaborated with a multi-agency team to match skillsets of displaced Ukrainians with local employment opportunities.

2. Most Innovative Project

Galway Chamber took home the award for the Most Innovative Project for their ‘Inclusive Pathways to Employment’ project. The aim of this project was to undertake a pilot partnership focusing on ‘inclusive pathways to employment’ for individuals who experienced conditions such as Neurodiversity, social agoraphobia, anxiety, depression, or those who were on the spectrum of autism or other such conditions.

3. Supporting Members

Kildare Chamber won the award in the ‘Supporting Members’ category for their ‘Kildare School’s Roadshow’. This project developed a trade expo for the next generation of students. This initiative aimed to create a strong bond between students, businesses, and the community, while also addressing future skills gaps in the county. By providing students with first-hand exposure to local companies and showcasing the diverse career options available, the roadshow empowered students to envision a future filled with possibilities.

4. Lobbying & Policy Campaign

Dublin Chamber was awarded the prize for the best ‘Lobbying and Policy Campaign’ for their project ‘Moving the Dial on Right to Request Remote Work’. For this project Dublin Chamber researched and gathered feedback from its members through various mediums (such as roundtables, member-elected taskforces and quarterly surveys) to develop a position accurately representative of the concerns and views of Dublin Chamber members with regard to the right to request remote work. Dublin Chamber influenced the design of legislation through a number of successful lobbying endeavours.

5. Local Authority Collaboration

Waterford Chamber took home the award for this category for their project ‘Think Waterford First’. This project aims to support Ireland 2040 by showcasing Waterford as a City of Opportunity under the Think Waterford First campaign.

6. Communications & Representation

Cork Chamber were awarded the prize for the ‘Communications & Representation’ category for the ‘Cork Chamber Economic Trends Report’. The Economic Trends is a quarterly report produced by Cork Chamber that serves to engage with and inform their membership base regarding important issues for the future operation of businesses in the Cork region.

7. Event of the Year

Dungarvan & West Waterford Chamber won the ‘Event of the Year’ award for their ‘Menopause – The Case For Change’ event. To address menopause in the workplace and start the conversation, the Dungarvan & West Waterford Chamber worked with The Menopause Hub to host a completely unique collaborative online event for employers. The online event in September 2022 attracted business owners, managers, supervisors, team leads, menopause at work & wellness at work ambassadors and HR professionals.

8. Sustainability and the Sustainable Development Goals

Ballina Chamber took home the prize for the ‘Sustainability and the Sustainable Development Goals’ category for their ‘Ballina Green town’ initiative. Ballina Green Town serves as an inclusive platform that unites the entire Ballina community, focusing on sustainability. With a vision to become Ireland’s greenest town, Ballina has garnered support for its Green Town Charter, engaging the community’s voice and securing LEADER funding for developing a strategy that paves the way toward a sustainable future.

9. Chamber of the Year

Dungarvan & West Waterford Chamber won the Chamber of the Year Award for their high level of activity throughout the year, innovative ideas, and positive engagement with their membership and the local community.
